This past July the chapter partnered with the Chad Herbst
Memorial Youth Trapshooting Program on the William Bassett Foundation grounds
near La Crosse by hosting a free live bird shoot for program participants.
The day began with an excellent pointing and retrieving demonstration
by Gunnar and his trusty Catja followed by a review of the safety guidelines
for the kids as they hunt the fields. During the hunt Michael Furr
and his goshawk/english setter hunting team talked about the ancient sport
of falconry. When the event came to a close we went through nearly
100 pigeons and an equal amount of hot dogs!
